About the role
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the global income tax provision process under ASC 740, including quarterly and annual reporting, in coordination with the global tax team.
Manage US and Canada tax compliance, including federal, state, provincial, and local filings.
Lead US - international tax planning and compliance (e.g., GILTI, BEAT, FTC) across WEBTOON's global operations.
Develop and maintain transfer pricing policies and documentation.
Provide tax planning and structuring support for new business initiatives, products, and markets.
Advise on tax due diligence, structuring, and integration for M&A transactions.
Manage indirect tax obligations (sales & use taxes, withholding taxes) and monitor tax law developments across jurisdictions, assessing business impact.
Maintain SOX compliance and documentation for tax processes and controls.
Oversee global mobility tax matters, including cross-border employee assignments.
Engage and manage external tax advisors, auditors, and consultants.
Partner closely with accounting and legal teams to ensure alignment on tax positions and risk management.
Support tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
Lead responses to US tax audits (IRS and state) and inquiries from tax authorities.
Qualifications
CPA, JD, or advanced tax degree (e.g., MST – Master of Science in Taxation) preferred.
10+ years of progressive tax experience, including in-house and/or public accounting.
Deep expertise in ASC 740, US and Canada tax compliance, international tax, and transfer pricing.
Proven track record advising on tax implications of new business initiatives.
Strong knowledge of withholding tax rules and cross-border transactions.
Experience managing external advisors and cross-functional collaboration with accounting and legal teams.
Strong tax research skills, with the ability to analyze complex tax law and translate it into practical guidance.
M&A tax experience, including due diligence and deal structuring.
Comfortable working across multiple time zones with global teams and stakeholders.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Bilingual in Korean and English preferred
Salary Range and Description
$180,000 - $240,000 / annually
