How salary and hourly pay actually convert
The standard conversion assumes 40 hours a week for 52 weeks: 2,080 paid hours a year. Real jobs vary, which is why the hours and weeks here are editable instead of hidden.
The 2,080 rule
Annual salary divided by 2,080 gives the hourly equivalent of a standard full-time year (40 hours x 52 weeks). A $75,000 salary is about $36.06 an hour on that basis.
Unpaid time changes it
If your time off is unpaid, you are paid for fewer weeks. Lower the weeks-per-year input and the true hourly value of a salary rises, or the annual value of an hourly rate falls.
Overtime is not in a salary
Most salaried (exempt) roles do not pay overtime, so a salary spread over 50-hour weeks is worth meaningfully less per hour than the same salary at 40. Set hours per week to what you actually work.
Pay periods differ from months
Biweekly pay (26 checks) is not the same as semimonthly pay (24 checks). Two months a year, a biweekly schedule pays three checks. The ledger shows both so nothing surprises you.
Gross, not take-home

Salary and hourly conversion, the honest answers
Divide the salary by your paid hours per year. For a standard full-time job that is 40 hours x 52 weeks = 2,080 hours, so $60,000 a year is about $28.85 an hour. If you work more hours or take unpaid time off, adjust the hours and weeks to get your real rate.
At 40 hours a week for 52 weeks: $25 an hour is $52,000 a year, $30 an hour is $62,400, and $40 an hour is $83,200. The calculator recomputes these instantly for any rate and any schedule.
Because unpaid time off changes the math. Salaried roles usually pay for all 52 weeks including vacation. Hourly and contract roles often do not, so 48 or 50 paid weeks is more realistic, and the honest comparison depends on it.
No. Biweekly means every two weeks, which is 26 paychecks a year. Semimonthly means twice a month, which is 24. The biweekly check is slightly smaller, but two months a year you receive three of them.
