About the role
Duties and responsibilities
Perform responsibilities and deliverables associated with an NE I to II roles as required
Conduct training internal or external on relevant new topics, including creating materials
Determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments independently, under high-level guidance of Network Architecture
Provide expert-level guidance on BGP routing issues
Review Change MOPs from other engineers for technical approval and escalate those that are outside of your knowledge
Manages complex project based work to the required deadlines based on high level guidance from the Design team
Resolve complex and new faults through applying existing fundamental knowledge of the systems in use
Maintains the network support process and checks that all requests for support are dealt with according to agreed procedures.
Uses network management software and tools to investigate and diagnose network problems, collect performance statistics, and create reports, working with users, other staff, and suppliers as appropriate.
Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures.
Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users, and managers.
Monitors service component capacity and initiates actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures; applies techniques to control the demand upon a particular resource or service
Be part of the Technical Account Specialist Virtual Role, providing dedicated support and technical expertise for key accounts to ensure optimal service performance and customer satisfaction
Preferred
Vendor certifications a plus (JNCIA/JNCIS/CCNA/CCNP etc.)
Experience managing Linux based applications like BIND, RADIUS, ISC-DHCP, Cacti, Smokeping, Nagios
Experience with a server configuration management tool like Chef (preferred), Puppet or Ansible
Experience with all, some or any of the following technologies: GPON, MPLS, STP/MSTP, L2VPN, L3VPN, RSVP, PPP, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, IPv6
Experience working with a large, operational IP network
Experience working in a customer support team or environment
