About the role
Core Responsibilities
As an FDIE intern, your responsibilities look similar to those at a small startup, with the resources, stability, and mentorship of an established tech company. You’ll work in small teams with minimal supervision and own end-to-end execution of real infrastructure projects. Your day might span discussing systems architecture with fellow engineers, debugging a production issue, building automation to eliminate a manual process, or deploying new Palantir products across production environments.
FDIE interns are treated just like full-time engineers, with significant freedom and ownership over their work. Specifically, you can expect to:
Deploy and operate Palantir software across production environments, including monitoring, alerting, configuration management, and upgrades
Debug, improve, and optimize Palantir’s services and infrastructure with a focus on long-term reliability and scalability
Reduce manual operations by automating workflows, processes, and runbooks wherever possible
Develop novel solutions in Palantir’s Foundry and Apollo platforms to solve infrastructure challenges
Our Principles
Impact : We address meaningful and exciting projects that change the world for the better.
Ownership : We see projects through from beginning to end, working through any obstacles we may encounter. We trust each other to effectively handle time and priorities and give people the space to think for themselves.
Collaboration : We work with people from a variety of backgrounds — including other FDIEs, product teams, and forward deployed software engineers.
Growth : We believe experiential learning is one of the best teachers and encourage ourselves and our peers to seek new challenges and opportunities for growth, as well as find new ways to innovate and share knowledge.
What We Value
Ability to continuously learn, work independently, and make decisions with minimal direction
Confidence troubleshooting complex systems issues using observability tools and service logs
Comfort with large-scale production systems and technologies — such as load balancing, monitoring, distributed systems, or configuration management
Ability to identify and automate highly manual tasks, driving ongoing improvements within and across teams
Eagerness to creatively solve technical problems using cloud infrastructure, storage systems, and other infrastructure tooling
Ability to collaborate across teams of technical and non-technical individuals in a constantly evolving environment with dynamic objectives
What We Require
Active US Security clearance, or eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance prior to start of internship
Engineering background, preferred in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, and Data Science
Strong proficiency with one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, Go, C++, TypeScript/JavaScript, or similar
Must be planning on graduating in 2028. This should be your final internship before graduating
