FACILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, SOLAR CELLS (STARLINK) - DAY SHIFT

At SpaceX, we are building the next generation of space infrastructure to enable large-scale AI data centers in orbit. These orbital AI platforms require massive amounts of reliable, high-efficiency solar power to support intensive computing workloads in space. To make this possible, we are standing up one of the largest solar cell manufacturing facilities in the world. We are seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building infrastructure and utility systems that keep the solar cell production environment stable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on building infrastructure and utility systems to keep the solar cell production environment stable and reliable

Maintain and repair HVAC support equipment, chilled water systems, pumps, cooling towers, valves, filters, piping, and associated mechanical systems

Perform ductwork modifications, brazing, soldering, evacuation and charging of refrigerants, water piping, and insulation repairs

Assemble, install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and mechanical systems according to specifications and codes

Conduct hands-on disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, reassembly, and testing of mechanical equipment

Perform failure assessments, safety inspections, and recommend improvements to the supervisor

Adjust and fabricate mechanical parts using hand and machine tools

Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, boom lifts, and overhead cranes as needed

Open, track, and resolve electronic work tickets; collaborate with engineers and managers to maintain peak operating condition

Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalency certificate

2+ years of professional experience working with HVAC, plumbing, pneumatic, mechanical, or electrical systems

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical safety, pneumatic principles, rotating machinery, and/or mechanical systems

Technical certification, journeyman, or master license in HVAC, mechanical, or plumbing

Experience maintaining cleanroom or high-volume manufacturing utility systems

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems

Familiarity with cleanroom protocols and gowning procedures

Familiarity with commercial building codes and ability to read schematics and blueprints

Experience with lock-out/tag-out, job hazard analysis, and chemical safety protocols

Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and executing digital work instructions

Demonstrated punctuality, ability to work in a high-stress environment, and flexibility to adjust priorities

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand up to 6 hours, lift up to 25 pounds unassisted, and maneuver around equipment in a factory setting

Ability to work in industrial environments with fumes/odors, noise, hazardous chemicals, and confined spaces

Must be available for one of the following AWS shifts (start and end times are approximate):

A Shift – 5:00am-5:00pm, Sunday-Wednesday

B Shift – 5:00am-5:00pm, Wednesday-Saturday
