About the role

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced Data Center Operations Engineer to join a highly technical group responsible for the commissioning and daily operations of our rapidly-scaling infrastructure within our global data centers. This role focuses on the "last mile" of data center builds—ensuring new infrastructure is properly commissioned and transitioned to operations—as well as maintaining 100% uptime across our critical facilities portfolio.

Our team is collaborative in nature, spanning many internal departments and external vendors, contractors, consultants, and operations teams. Your specific work will cover all aspects of our complex distributed data center environments.

This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge liquid cooling technologies in a mission-critical, high-performance computing environment. You will play a vital role in bridging the gap between construction and operations while maintaining the reliability and efficiency of essential digital infrastructure.

Key responsibilities of this role include

Leading data center commissioning and server OEM-facility integration activities for new data center infrastructure (liquid- and air-cooled), as well as ensuring seamless transition from construction to operations

Managing vendor maintenance of CDUs, RDHx units, and DLC infrastructure within our liquid cooling deployments

Monitoring data center operations via internal BMS and monitoring tools; responding to alarms and incidents; and troubleshooting and resolving issues at the cabinet, pod, and facility level across cooling, power, and monitoring systems

Acting as the primary liaison with data center and colocation service providers for day-to-day operational matters

Reviewing, supervising, and executing SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs in coordination with internal teams and external providers, and coordinating all preventative and reactive maintenance activities

Coordinating with IT teams to understand build requirements and ensure operational readiness

Developing and maintaining operational documentation and maintenance schedules

Ensuring adherence to strict uptime and reliability standards across all facilities

About You

Have 5+ years of experience with the commissioning, construction, maintenance, and operations of mission-critical data centers, trading floors, or similar 24/7 facilities

Have hands-on experience with direct liquid cooling (DLC) systems, including managing installation work (e.g., specifying commissioning processes, mechanical and electrical connections) and maintaining and troubleshooting DLC infrastructure, CDUs, RDHx units, and associated liquid cooling components

Highly knowledgeable about MEP components such as Switchgear, UPS, Generators, STS, PDU, RPP, Chillers, CRAH units, Cooling Towers, AHUs, VESDA, pre-action systems, and BMS/EPMS systems

Understand data center cooling and electrical principles, including redundancy topologies, liquid cooling technologies, airflow management techniques, and power distribution

Experienced in working with server OEMs to ensure compatibility and resolve issues between facility infrastructure and OEM-provided racks, particularly for DLC deployments

Experienced in writing and reviewing SOPs, EOPs, and MOPs

Skilled at delivering results, managing data center providers, and meeting operational challenges with creative solutions

Self-directed problem-solver who manages time well, handles multiple projects with attention to detail, and communicates complex issues with brevity and accuracy

Available to work on-site daily (NYC office or NJ data center) and flexible for nights and weekends in support of 24x7x365 operations

Willing to travel 4-6 weeks per year and participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical system emergencies

STEM degree required

Able to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50lbs

Having experience working with CAD is a plus
