Position Overview

A Main Line automotive technician is an expert in automotive repair. Job duties include diagnosing, inspecting, and repairing vehicles; overseeing and signing off on repairs completed by other mechanics; and training new technicians. A qualified Main Line Technician will have experience in using technology and tools to perform auto service as quickly and effectively as possible. Career qualifications for a Main Line automotive technician include certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Who You Are

You have the keen ability to diagnose and identify required repairs in an efficient and timely manner

You are detailed and efficient, with over 2 years of technician experience and strong knowledge in all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance, including diagnosing and repairing automotive systems such as the engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, and air conditioning

You continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training sessions to stay up-to-date with rapidly changing technology

You are a reliable individual with a proven work ethic

You are a team player who is process-oriented

You are passionate about taking care of the customer, and you communicate well with service team members to ensure customers are receiving accurate service promptly

What You'll Do

Perform maintenance and repair work efficiently, adhering to dealership standards.

Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.

Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.

Continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training sessions to stay up-to-date with rapidly changing technology.

Inspect and test vehicles, recording findings to identify necessary repairs.

Test-drive vehicles and test components and systems using diagnostic tools and special service equipment.

Diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing automotive vehicle systems, including engine, transmission, electrical steering, suspension, brakes, air conditioning, etc.

Communicate directly and effectively with the Service Advisor to ensure customers are informed of any additional services needed. They are also providing an estimate of the time required for other repairs.

Execute repairs under warranty in accordance with manufacturer specifications.

Requirements

Authorized to work in the United States

At least 18 years of age

Valid Maine Vehicle Inspection license

Certification from the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)

Possess a valid driver's license and a favorable motor vehicle record

Able to pass a pre-employment background check
