The role:

The Home Equity Closing team manages the final stages of the loan process by working directly with members and title partners to schedule closings, prepare accurate closing packages, and keep loans moving efficiently.

As a Home Equity Loan Closer, you will ensure closing files and documents meet company, investor, and regulatory requirements while delivering an accurate and timely closing experience for our members. This role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, effective cross-functional communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This position is based in Frisco, TX or Charlotte, NC and follows a hybrid schedule with an expectation of working onsite at least two days per week.

What you’ll do:

Review closing files and documents to ensure they meet company, investor, and compliance requirements.

Confirm closing documents are prepared within established turn times and consistently meet required deadlines.

Process a minimum of three files per day during normal business operations and meet fluctuating production expectations established by management.

Reconcile and approve Closing Disclosures.

Prepare accurate and complete closing documents and packages.

Schedule loan closings directly with borrowers.

Coordinate with title and settlement partners to keep closings moving and resolve outstanding issues.

Accurately enter, review, and maintain loan documents and information within the loan origination system.

Use checklists and job aids to confirm all required information is complete and accurate.

Partner with processing, underwriting, and post-closing teams to correct issues and complete closings.

Prioritize a pipeline of loans with varying products, deadlines, and levels of complexity.

Develop an in-depth understanding of the loan life cycle and how closing activities affect members and downstream teams.

What you’ll need:

Two or more years of recent mortgage loan closing experience.

Experience reviewing and preparing mortgage closing documents.

Experience communicating directly with borrowers or members throughout the closing process.

Working knowledge of TRID requirements and Closing Disclosures.

Conventional mortgage loan experience.

Ability to manage a mixed loan pipeline while meeting production and turnaround-time expectations.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize competing deadlines, and operate with a sense of urgency.

Nice to have:

Experience using Encompass during the mortgage closing process.

Home equity, HELOC, or second-lien closing experience.

FHA or VA loan experience.

Experience personally reconciling and approving Closing Disclosures.

High-volume closing experience, including managing approximately 80–100 completed files per month.

Experience working directly with title companies, settlement agents, processing, underwriting, and post-closing teams.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
