Build the mission critical services that enable our customers’ and our internal engineers.

Schuberg Philis – Mission Critical Engineer / SaaS Team

At Schuberg Philis, we continuously work with the latest open-source and cloud technologies to build resilient, mission critical platforms for our customers.

We’re looking for a new team member who is passionate about automation, enthusiastic about open-source tools, and skilled at managing multitenant, highly available services on a large scale.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will be part of the engineering team that plans, builds, runs, and continuously improves the SaaS services for customers and Schuberg Philis. Your responsibilities include:

Platform Engineering & Operations

Building and enhancing SaaS services.

Managing and optimizing Kubernetes.

Ensuring high availability across multiple zones and tenants.

Automation & Infrastructure as Code

Developing automated deployment and configuration pipelines using tools such as Terraform, Chef, and Ansible.

Eliminating manual work through scripting (e.g., Python, Bash, Go).

Maintaining reproducible, testable infrastructure patterns.

Being an ambassador for DevOps, GitOps, and continuous delivery principles

Collaboration & Customer Engagement

Working closely with customer teams to translate requirements into platform services.

Helping customers adopt new services or capabilities built by the SaaS team.

Troubleshooting performance and operational issues across the entire stack.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

Evaluating new open and closed source software. Be involved with vendors and open-source communities.

Introducing enhancements that improve automation, security, or scalability.

Staying aligned with evolving industry best practices around cloud native and private cloud engineering.

Who are we looking for?

You are deeply experienced in building and operating Linux based cloud and Kubernetes environments. You have a passion for building and operating services and platforms and are always trying to move the needle. Your background includes:

Core Expertise

Strong experience with Linux and networking in highly available, secure production environments.

Proven experience operating Kubernetes clusters.

Experience managing multitenant environments at scale.

Experience with private and public clouds (AWS, Azure)

Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Git and GitOps workflows, and self-hosted CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

Having built and maintained an Internal Developer Platform

Programming and scripting proficiency in Bash, Go, or Python.

Experience developing custom Kubernetes Operators.

Having worked with OpenStack or CloudStack.

Experience with managing one or more of Windows Server, Active Directory Domain Services, SQL Server, Entra ID

General Engineering Competencies

Team player mindset and ownership mentality.

Can-do attitude.

Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.

Experience in mission critical environments is a strong plus.
