Your Impact

As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development of Dedrone’s airspace security solutions. You will design, develop, and maintain software systems that power our drone detection and mitigation technologies. You will work on complex features, solve non-trivial technical problems, and contribute to technical decisions within your domain.

Reports to: Software Engineering Manager

What You’ll Do

Design and develop scalable, high-performance software systems for Dedrone’s core products, ensuring reliability through best practices such as code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration

Contribute to the design of new features and system components, making sound technical decisions within your area of ownership

Own and deliver features end-to-end, from requirements clarification to production rollout

Work closely with Product, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to refine requirements and deliver high-quality software

Actively participate in coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure robust and performant systems

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across the stack, including integration challenges, concurrency issues, and performance bottlenecks

Support production systems, including monitoring, debugging, and implementing long-term fixes for reliability issues

Create and maintain technical documentation for software design and development processes

Contribute to improvements in development practices, tools, and system design to increase team efficiency and software quality

What You Bring

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Professional experience building and operating backend or distributed systems

Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript), with the ability to write maintainable and performant code

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and distributed systems fundamentals

Experience designing and building APIs or service components within a microservices architecture

Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)

Understanding of network communication protocols (e.g., HTTP/REST, WebSockets, MQTT)

Experience working with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB or similar)

Understanding of software quality practices, including testing, code reviews, and CI/CD

Nice to Have

Experience with real-time or event-driven systems

Familiarity with secure coding practices and production system hardening

Work Location

This role is based out of our Kassel, Germany office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesday through Friday, with flexibility to work remotely on Mondays unless there is an approved workplace accommodation.
