Role Summary

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Senior Manager, People Business Partner to join the PBP pillar and partner closely with leaders to drive organizational effectiveness, team performance, and talent outcomes. This role will report to the Director, PBP and play a critical part in scaling our business by aligning people strategy with business priorities.

As a trusted advisor to leaders, the Senior Manager, PBP will operate at both a strategic and executional level—supporting org design, performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning, while reinforcing a high-performance, principles-aligned culture.

Travel: Ability to travel up to (20%) to company location or for meetings

Location: Denver, CO (hybrid in-office role)

Compensation: $125k - $150k (Offers Bonus)

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership

Partner with senior leaders to translate business needs into scalable people solutions, aligned with Rowan’s business goals and operational priorities

Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships across the business, acting as a coach, advisor and thought partner on complex organizational and people challenges.

Provide guidance on organizational design, team structure, and workforce planning

Performance Management & Talent Strategy

Drive performance management processes, including goal setting, feedback, and performance reviews

Support talent planning, succession planning, and development of high-potential employees

Partner with leaders to address performance gaps and elevate team effectiveness

Manager Enablement

Coach and advise managers on:

Performance management

Employee relations

Feedback and development

Team engagement

Build manager capability and reinforce leadership expectations

Employee Relations

Serve as a point of contact for employee relations matters, ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant outcomes

Partner with leaders to proactively address team dynamics and mitigate risk

Escalate complex issues to Director, HRBP as needed

Workforce Planning & Organizational Effectiveness

Support headcount planning and alignment to business strategy

Identify trends and risks related to attrition, engagement, and performance

Partner cross-functionally to ensure alignment across teams

Cross-Functional Collaboration (3-Pillar Model)

Partner with:

Talent Acquisition on hiring strategy and workforce planning

Talent Development on manager capability and leadership programs

People Operations on processes, systems, and compliance

Ensure seamless execution across the employee lifecycle

Culture & Engagement

Reinforce company guiding principles through leadership behaviors and team practices

Support engagement survey action planning and follow-through

Partner with leaders to foster an inclusive, high-performing culture

Required Education, Skills, and Experience

Education & Experience

7–10+ years of progressive HR experience, including PBP or equivalent business-facing roles

Experience partnering with senior leaders in high-growth, fast-paced environments

Strong understanding of organizational design, performance management, and employee relations

Demonstrated ability to influence and coach leaders at multiple levels

Experience working in a multi-state environment with knowledge of employment laws and compliance

Strong business acumen and ability to connect people strategies to business outcomes

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability, with experience leveraging workforce, talent, and business data to identify trends, diagnose organizational challenges, and develop data-informed solutions that drive business outcomes

Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution

Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills

Demonstrated agility and adaptability in response to changing business needs and priorities

Preferred Experience

Experience working within a People team model that includes PBP, Centers of Excellence, and People Operations.

Experience supporting technical, infrastructure, construction, or engineering organizations.

Familiarity with HR systems and people analytics tools (e.g. HiBob, Ashby).
