About the role
Job Duties:
Lead and work alongside production employees in the fabrication and welding of burners, flares, incinerators, and related components during night shift operations.
Serve as the primary on-floor lead, providing direction, job assignments, and real-time problem solving to meet production schedules.
Ensure work is performed in compliance with quality standards, drawings, and welding procedures.
Promote and maintain HSE compliance, including proper use of PPE and adherence to safety policies.
Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and communicate issues or needs to supervision.
Support training and onboarding of new employees; mentor less experienced team members.
Assist with basic troubleshooting of equipment, tools, and processes.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including lean manufacturing and process improvement initiatives.
Provide input on employee performance and escalate attendance, performance, or conduct issues as needed.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
3+ years of manufacturing experience required; welding experience strongly preferred.
Prior experience in a lead, acting lead, or informal supervisory role preferred.
Experience in welding, fabrication, machine shop operations, or first-entry manufacturing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and welding symbols.
Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to lead by example.
Basic computer skills for production tracking and reporting.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles preferred.
Experience with Solomon or similar ERP systems is a plus.
Mental and Physical Requirements:
Must demonstrate leadership, sound judgment, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
Must be able to prioritize tasks, work under pressure, and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Must be able to work in a shop environment with exposure to welding fumes, noise, and industrial equipment.
Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with fabrication and welding.
Must be able to work overtime as required. Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while performing job duties.
