General Description

Electric Actuation Technicians are responsible for the assembly, calibration, diagnostics and repair of all types of electric actuators (MOV’s). Associated work often includes the service/repair of associated control, isolation, regulator/relief valves, including valve instrumentation.

Specific Responsibilities

Assist in the assembly, commissioning, troubleshooting and repair of electric actuators in the shop or at customer facilities

Determine service requirements for electrical and mechanical components by use of technical drawings and various types of measuring equipment

Preventive Maintenance and repair of electric actuators from brands such as Bettis, Limitorque, Rotork, Beck, and Auma.

Assist in the design of the bracket and coupling interface between electric actuators and valves

Customer communication – technical assistance, troubleshooting, determining disposition of repairs

Adherence to all safety, quality and company rules/regulations

Maintain excellent housekeeping standards

Participation and involvement in Safety, Quality, and Activities Committees.

Complete site-specific safety requirements

Maintain driver eligibility

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Competencies

Strong Electrical Ability/Aptitude

Strong Safety Culture

Process Control communication protocols including HART, Foundation Fieldbus, PROFIBUS and Modbus.

Familiar with Control System Rack Rooms, termination panels, and wiring associated with electric actuator installations

Problem Solving and Troubleshooting

Mechanical Ability/Aptitude

Knowledge of rigging and lifting

Able to operate repair equipment namely: overhead cranes, forklifts, sand blasters, power tools and electrical devices such as multi meters, HART Communicators

Ability to stay task focused

Self-Starter and Self-Directed

Available for overnight travel up to 4 weeks (supporting nuclear refueling outages) with an overall field to shop ratio of 70%.

Must be able to work off hours, weekends, and OT on a short notice basis based on business needs

Able to work in abnormal (heat/cold/clean room) operating conditions.

Excellent communication (verbal & written), interpersonal and customer relations skills – exhibit an ability to effectively communicate with plant personnel.

High School Diploma or equivalent

Technical/Trade School preferred

2 years Industrial plant experience preferred

Valve repair experience

Basic computer skills
